Director of Loan Servicing

Job Summary


The Director of Loan Servicing is responsible for overseeing and managing all Loan Servicing and Loan Operation functions. Servicing of conventional, non-conventional and FNMA mortgage servicing portfolio is a key objective. This position will also manage servicing for home equity and consumer loan portfolios.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Manages and directs all aspects of Loan Servicing and Loan Operation functions for Mortgage and Consumer Loans.

  • Work closely with Compliance, Audit, IT and Collections departments to ensure operational standards are consistent with the most current regulatory guidelines and that effective controls are implemented to mitigate risk and losses to the Credit Union

  • Manage third party mortgage originator and mortgage servicing vendors ensuring contractual obligations are being met and are operating within internal and external compliance guidelines.

  • Ensure loan originations and core systems are utilized to effectively meet the Credit Unions servicing needs.

  • Remain compliant and up to date on FNMA servicing rules and MERS procedures.

  • Ensure operational units are functioning within industry standards and that operational procedures are streamlined and efficient maintained to industry standards and are fully documented for all departmental processes.

  • Know compliance responsibilities and particular requirements affecting your area of responsibility incorporate these requirements into your business processes and procedures perform periodic self-assessments including corrective action as needed and assure appropriate training to associates regarding these responsibilities and procedures.

  • Interviews, underwrites, and approves loans as needed.

  • Coordinate with HR Trainer on mortgage loan related training and education for new staff and branch personal.

  • Model and foster behaviors that support the Credit Unions values and corporate culture creating an atmosphere of trust cooperation accountability and dedication to the organization.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


  • Bachelor Degree in Business/Finance or an equivalent combination of education/experience required.

  • Min of 6 years mortgage lending/ servicing experience.

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.

Other Skills:

  • Knowledge of the secondary market and experience with first and second mortgage residential real estate lending; must have proven track record of selling and servicing loans.

  • Expertise in related regulatory compliance requirements (i.e. flood insurance FCRA Regulation Z Homeowners Protection Act) required.

  • In-depth knowledge of Mortgage Servicing Rules and Regulations including FNMA.

  • Must have working knowledge of mortgage servicing software system.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation skills.

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and other reporting applications.
